Key Opinion Leader.  Typically a Healthcare provider that is influential at the local, regional, national, or international level.  Influence may be due to having a large referral base, working at an academic center, doing research, active in clinical trials, or involved in market access.  Some companies refer to KOLs as External Experts (EEs) or Thought Leaders (TL).
